Finding Your Role in the Venture Builder Journey

As venture builders we often encounter individuals brimming with innovative ideas, bursting with enthusiasm, but lacking the time or the specific skills required to transform their vision into a thriving business.

The journey from concept to a successful start-up can be challenging, requiring a range of talents and dedication. The good news is, that there's a place for these idea generators in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, working alongside venture builders.

Consider this venture-building journey as a metaphorical bus. The question we always ask to these idea generators is, where do you want to sit on the bus?

  1. Driver's Seat: At the front, where the action begins. If you have a brilliant idea and possess the entrepreneurial spirit and skills to execute it, this is your spot. You are the leader and the driving force behind the venture.

  2. Second Row: The second row is for individuals with a deep domain knowledge or valuable skills in areas like marketing or finance. These individuals may not have the desire or skills to lead but can contribute significantly to the venture's success. They are the support system, providing essential services and strategies.

  3. Middle of the Bus: This is for those who prefer to contribute to the venture but without taking a leading role. They're happy to share their idea, their expertise, insights, or contacts but don't want to be deeply involved. Some have daytime jobs and are less motivated to jump in until the venture is more established. Meanwhile, they contribute from a more safe position, which for us venture builders is absolutely okay.

  4. Back of the Bus: The back of the bus is for those idea generators who want to be involved on a shareholder or board level, but prefer a less hands-on role. They may have initiated the idea, invest in the venture, offer occasional feedback, or participate at a minimal level. Their involvement might be less direct, but it's still a part of the journey.

  5. Not Getting Up at All: Some individuals prefer not to be directly involved but still strongly believe in the idea they had. They might invest capital, provide initial seed funding, or act as silent partners. Their financial and/or visionary contributions enable us to execute the vision.

The beauty of the metaphorical bus is that every seat is equally important. It takes a combination of skills, dedication, and resources to transform an idea into a successful venture.

Whether you're the driver, a support passenger, or one who prefers a quieter seat, there's a place for you in the world of venture building.
